听力原文: The piano and violin are girls' instruments. Drums and trumpets are for boys. According to Psychologists Susan O' Neil and Michael Bottome, children have very clear ideas about which musical instruments they should play. They found that despite the best efforts of teachers, these ideas have changed very little over the past decade. They interviewed 153 children, aged between 9 and 11, from schools in northwest England. They asked them to identify four musical instruments and then say which they would like to play most and which they would least like to play. They also asked the children for their views on whether boys or girls should not play any of the four instruments. The piano and violin were both ranked more favorably by girls than by boys, while boys preferred the drums and trumpets. There was a broad agreement between boys and girls on which instruments each sex should play and the reasons varied. And while almost half of all boys said they avoided certain instruments because they were too difficult to play. Only 15 percent of girls gave that as a reason. Earlier studies indicated that very young school children aged between 5 and 7, showed no bias in choosing musical instruments. But their tastes become more clear between the ages of 8 and 10. One survey of 78 teachers suggested that after that age, both boys and girls begin to restrict themselves to the so-called male or female instruments.

C.152.

D.153.

听力原文: [26] Americans who remember "the good old days" are not alone in complaining about the educational System in this country. Immigrants complain, too. Lately a German friend was filled with anger when he learned that the first mathematics test given to his son as a college freshman included multiplication and division. Japanese businessmen in Los Angeles send their children to private schools staffed by teachers imported from Japan who teach mathematics at more advanced level.

[27] But I wonder: If American education is so poor, why is it that this is still the country of innovation? When I was 12 in Indonesia, I had to memorize the name of all the world's major cities. At the same age, my son, who was brought up a Californian, thought that Buenos Aires was Spanish for good food. However, unlike children of his age in Asia and Europe, my son had studied creative geography. When he was only 6, he drew a map of the route that he traveled to get to school, including the streets, the traffic signs and the houses that he passed. Dissatisfied American parents forget that in this country their children are able to experiment freely with ideas; without this they will not be able to think or to believe in themselves. Critics of American education cannot grasp one thing: freedom. [28] America, I think, is the only country that extends even to children the license to freely speak, write and be creative. Our public education is not perfect, but it is better than any other.

(27)

A.The Japanese mathematic teachers.

B.Both the speaker and his German friend.

C.Both Americans and immigrants.

D.The son of the speaker's German friend.

正确答案:C

考题 问答题Discuss and decide together: ● What travel and accommodation arrangements you will need to make before the trip? ● Which kinds of business customs in the foreign country would be useful to know about, and how?正确答案:【参考范例】 Candidate A=A Candidate B=B A: Since it is the first time for our company to attend a trade fair in Paris, I think we have to do a lot of preparations beforehand. What’s your view? B: I agree. I suppose we need to bring a lot of introductions, samples and brochures of our products with us. At the same time, it is advisable that we prepare free gifts printed with the name of our company so as to promote our products in the fair and pursue sales in the future. To make our exhibition special and attractive, I think it is important that we invite some experts to help us with the designing of the exhibition stand. We must make every endeavour to make our exhibition a success. What do you think? A: That is right. I think we should also arrange an appropriate schedule. For instance, we should get there several days earlier to have enough time to settle down and prepare for the trade fair. As is known, travel fatigue, climatic changes, jet lag, foreign food, etc. will all have some adverse effect on us. B: I wholly agree with you on that. And we need to book air tickets and reserve accommodations beforehand. As we all know, the accommodations will be difficult and more expensive due to the fair. A: Yes. Therefore, I think we need to contact a travel agency for it can offer a variety of choices and discounts to us, which will save us time to be better prepared for the trade fair. B: That’s just what I am thinking. Then, we must warn every member of the group of cultural differences, which may cause misunderstandings, so they should learn more about French culture before they go. A: Can you give some examples about the things the participants should do? B: Sure. For example, basic business customs that our participants should bear in mind include shaking hands with everyone present, inviting your customers to a lunch rather than a dinner, avoiding talking about business over the main course, etc. A: I can’t agree with you more. What do you think about us inviting some French people to give lectures and helping the participants know more about French culture? B: That’s great. I’ll make sure that our ideas known to the directors. Nice talking with you.解析:暂无解析

考题 问答题The extract below comes from an article which appeared in a magazine called Society Today. You read the extract and have strong feelings about its contents, and decide to write an article, in which you respond to the points made and express your own views. You should write the article in no fewer than 120 words. Now write your letter on the answer sheet.正确答案:The Influence of Popular CultureIt seems that image and appearance are attracting more and more attention in the modern world which is full of material desires. Some believe that it is the rise of popular culture including the media, sport and the fashion industry to blame. It is definitely true that this has somewhat brought about some shallow and egoistic people. However, we absolutely should not attribute this to the popular culture itself. Popular culture, opposite to exquisite culture, is easy to appreciate and comprehend and is oriented to the common people. Being popular does not mean emphasizing the appearance. The reason why they mislead some people is that they have developed a false concept in their mind. They believe anything popular must be presentational and only related to outer appearance. Whether the influence of popular culture is positive or negative depends on how people perceive and treat them. Properly used, they can instruct and entertain the public; on the contrary, they can also produce a generation of skin-deep people.解析:暂无解析

考题 问答题Your class has recently had a discussion about learning a foreign language. For homework, your teacher has asked you to write a composition of no fewer than 120 words, giving your opinion about the following statement: The best way to learn a foreign language is to study it in the country where it is spoken. Please write your composition on the Answer Sheet.正确答案:The Best Way to Learn a Foreign LanguageWe have had a discussion about whether the best way to learn a foreign language is to study it in the country where it is spoken in class recently. Some of my classmates believe that to study the language in the country where it is spoken is the best way to learn a foreign language. And some think going abroad is not necessary the best way to learn a foreign language. In my opinion, the best way to learn a foreign language is to study it in an environment of that language. And it does not matter whether we go to the country where it is spoken or not yet. First of all, a foreign language environment is very important in language learning. If we have a friend who speaks that language we want to learn as his or her mother tongue, it will be effective in language learning through chatting with him or her in that language. Learning a foreign language conversationally can help us improve our listening and comprehensive competences as well as our oral language in the same time. Second, we can build a foreign language environment even if we are not living in the country where the language is spoken. Making a foreign friend is a good way. Besides, joining a salon of that language and chatting with other foreign language learners in that foreign language and participating in various activities about language learning are all useful in building a foreign language environment. And there are many fairly good language software programs and language learning websites on line, which we can have an access to them easily. In a word, the best way to learn a foreign language is not definitely to study the language in the country where it is spoken. Instead, it is to build a foreign language environment around us and make great efforts in language learning.解析:暂无解析
